Oklahoma City, May 20, 2011 --While the Paseo Arts Festival promises plenty of art, music and food over the Memorial Day weekend, one participating local restaurant will use the occasion to honor the memory of an employee who died in a tragic accident earlier this year.

Sauced on Paseo, 2912 Paseo Drive, is selling Paseo Arts Festival T-shirts adorned with a design and logo created by the late Cheryl Bauer, an artist and restaurant staff member who passed away in March. All proceeds from the sale will benefit the Bauer family for the creation of a 5K run to be held at Lake Hefner in the fall. Bauer, 21, was also a dedicated runner.

All employees of Sauced on Paseo, the Paseo Grill and The Whole Enchilada Café will wear the T-shirt honoring Bauer. The three restaurants are owned and operated by J & L Restaurants.

Sauced on Paseo owner Joe Jungmann said it was important to all involved that Bauer be honored through her art.

“We miss Cheryl terribly and wanted to pay tribute to what a gifted artist she was,” Jungmann said. “It seemed only appropriate that we do so at the Paseo Arts Festival, a celebration of art and of the neighborhood where Cheryl lived and worked.

”The shirts will sell for $15 apiece and be available at Sauced on Paseo, located in the heart of the historic Paseo District. Sizes are XS, S, M. L and XL.

Now in its 35th years, the Paseo Arts Festival runs May 28 to May 30 and features works from more than 100 artists.
